AweLab explores the ways in which artists, designers, and creative-makers employ "awe" as a tool for inspiration and generation, and as a community-centered approach to life.
Have you ever gotten goosebumps from being in a sublime natural landscape or by engaging in a collective celebratory ritual? It turns out these transcendental feelings of awe set us apart from the animal world and inspires us to act in collaborative ways. Awe is the ultimate “collective” emotion, it motivates people to do things that enhance the greater good. Strong evidence shows, feelings of awe can help shift our focus from self interest to the interests of the group to which we belong.
Co-founded by Amy Ress and Jenn Doyle Crane, AweLab has grown out of an interdisciplinary collective investigation of awe. As a consulting team working with artists and designers, we enjoy collaborating on public programs and exhibitions.
